Adaptec aha-2940u2/u2w - ultra2 scsi driver. there seems to be a consensus that hdx16 is ddr2, but some people seem to be saying hdx18 is gddr3? this doesn't seem to make financial sense from hp's side, but it would be a factor in deciding between the two if it were true.

Acer :: 6920g. 9500m To 9600m Gt Swap

I managed to snag a minor graphics card upgrade for my laptop and installed it. I changed up my 9500m to a 9600m gt. Everything seems to be going great, just needed an HDTV to get it going For some reason it would only initially post video through the HDMI.
Anyway, my issue is, while the machine runs great in windows I can't for the life of me get it to display anything before that. Which includes the BIOS boot screen, the BIOS itself, the Boot Menu or even my Windows XP disc.
Like I said, games run great, windows runs great.

Acer :: 5930G: Need To Refresh My 9600M GT, Not Kept Any Back Up Files

I have got a Acer 5930G John Lewis model. I flashed my Nvidia 9600M GT 512mb to overclock it. Everything was ok initially and I was able to play most games maxxed out.
After about 9 months things started going wrong. Initially the laptop would only crash when playing a heavy game such as FEAR or crysis for a long period of time. Then as time went on, the laptop become less tolerant to any GPU processing and now crashes even crashes when playing Quake Live or CS 1.6.
Migrating to Win 7 temporarily fixed the problem, but then things quicky went wrong again.
Before making any modifications, I had backed up all my files on a USB drive as I had no optical media at the time, unfortunately, the drive was placed into a mac by a friend by accident and subsequently formatted. OOPS.
So, I have lost all my original NVflash files and Im stuck with a 9600M that can't take it anymore. Is there anyway I can reclock the timings on the Gfx card or am I screwed?

Acer :: Horizontal Wave-like Distortions (5930G/9600M GT)

recently bought an acer aspire 5930 with an Nvidia geforce 9600M gt,3GB RAM,and an intel core 2 duo @ 2.00 Ghz.
When I play games I often notice annoying small horizontal wave-like distortions even at the intro videos of some games(Pro Evolution Soccer 09 for example).
I read that it might have been V-sync that cause these horizontal distortions, however turning it off doesn't help at all.
Vertical movement in the scenery seems to cause these wave like effects to occur and I really don't know what do to, I've tried mostly everthing.
I am using Dox's 180.7 drivers, forcing V-sync off etc.

I have the 9600m GT out of a 8930g installed in my Aspire 5720 laptop but every nvidia driver that I try to install says that the hardware is not compatible with the driver or some crap.
Am I out of luck with this card or is there a way to force install a driver..or is there a better driver to install?
I've tried the latest 197.16, 186.03 drivers from nvidia. Even from laptopvideo2go..no dice.

My VGA card Nvidia ((Geforce9600m)) has a 54c to 50c on Idle. gaming 87c to near 90c on playing Burnout paradise.
so, is that normal? or should I downclock my VGA? if so . how could I do it. note: my VGA card setting is default.

I got my HP DV5t about 4-5 mos. ago. The graphics card which is a 9600m GT is definitely starting to fail. When ever I start to play graphically intensive games like COD4 or CS 1.6 the screen begins to freeze and the computer says the display driver failed while other times it causes a BSOD. This used to happen occasionally about 1-2 mos. ago but now it happens very often. I updated my drivers as soon as I got the laptop and always lifted the back for better airflow while gaming but apparently it didnt help.

any display oddities when using the 9600M on the 17-inch Crapbook Pro in spite of (or possibly, because of..?) the firmware update.
I get 'tearing' of the window contents quite often - e.g. when scrolling in Finder, but also similar display issues in other applications as well. It's pretty annoying. Before the probably inevitable call to Applecare I was wondering if there was anything I could do about it? I've seen it on both of the machines I use in the main, while I haven't seen it on the spare - although this is probably because I only power it on to keep the machine in sync.

I am ready to purchase a new MBP that I will use all day long with hotcomm voice and picture chat, email, powerpoint, word, excel,browsing, and a professional stock trading application called realtick that will run through vm ware or parallels and skype. This will not be my only computer but it is the one I would like to use the most. I am sensitive to heat problems and am considering the 2.4 processor because I have it in my head that it may run cooler. I recently used a thinkpad, (i know not a direct comparison), with a t9300 and dedicated video and it was so hot it could______ fill in blanks.. Ultimately the heat is what killed the motherboard so I would like to stay as cool as reasonable.
I am considering the refurbished 2.4 15' with the nvida 9600m GT and 9400m GPU's because I like the price. I also think I can get some value from the dedicated video on my stock charts, (but am really not sure). I do not want to outsmart myself and get the wrong thing. Would someone here with some experience maybe give me an opinion if I should be looking at the 2.53 15' without the switchable video. The heat is one issue, but the other is my realtick charting software that will have to run under windows xp that I am concerned about with regard to needing the stronger GPU.

so tomorrow my friend will put his laptop together, (he will get the ati 3670 card, he could get the 4670 (if he paid some extra money) but he is not some super-gamer and said he could live with 3670 without any problem.
i knew that ati 3670 512mb and nvidia 9600M gt 512mb was pretty similar, but ati 3670 performs actaully better, (quite much better).

i have a weird problem with my webcam , sometimes when i wanna use it , i open youcam it give me that it cant connect to the device so i need to close all applications that use this webcam while i have no softwares running so i have to restart in order to make it work one day i restarted and the same error occured again so i had to restart a second time :s also , to save threads i will ask here a question about my geforce 9600mgt performance it's good with games and i like it , though it was less than expected if u ask me when i play call of duty 5 and there's a scene where there's lots of smoke or fire from the fl;amethrower it the game becomes ridicously slow untill the smoke disappears and i will be able to play smoothly again anyway my question is not about this , i noticed that the performance of the card isn't always the same sometimes it works great and sometimes i notice that games barely run , even less demanding games like nba 2007 for example for example call of duty 4 , sometimes it works incredibly and some other times don't , isn't it weird ?

Are these safe to install on my DV7T? I notice HP has never issued an official graphics driver update for this notebook. The one and only version from them is from November 2008.
The release highlights has me salivating - particularly the bit about a 45% increase in Mirror's Edge with antialiasing enabled. Since there are about 7 months of driver updates in this release I should see some big improvements in my games.

when the MBP first came out, but with no results other than people saying it would get too hot.. maybe now people have had some experience with overclocking it on the MBP?
I gather you can essentially patch the firmware so it behaves as a 9700m GT. Are there other ways, as that sounds risky to me? Anyone overclocked theirs?
Alternatively, do any recent drivers give significantly better results?
